Rustic Woodland Ornaments
The holidays are almost here! I thought I'd share some rustic woodland ornaments I made for my tree that's located in my dining room. I really love woodland inspired ornaments and needed a few extra to fill some holes in my tree so I created a few myself. These were so quick and easy to make, you'll want to make a set for your tree.
Here's what you'll need:
- Wood ornament slices
- Craft Paint in assorted Christmas colors (I used Martha Stewart Crafts satin paint)
- Martha Stewart Crafts Holiday Stencil Pack (you can find these online or at any craft store)
- Set of stencil brushes
- And your imagination to create beautiful woodland inspired scenes :-)
TIP: Some people choose to sand down the front of their wooden ornaments but I did not because I wanted a true rustic surface to craft on.
Step 1) Apply your stencils to your wooden surface to make a woodland scene. I chose a Christmas tree and deer for this ornament.
Step 2) Next, load a stencil brush with your desired color. Make sure to offload any existing paint on a napkin or cloth to prevent paint run under. Apply the paint to the stencil in a circular (hola hoop) motion.
Step 3) Once your stencil is covered, immediately remove the stencil to reveal your design.
Step 4) Make more woodland scenes by repeating steps 1 though 3! :-)
Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
